　　The professor of a contract law class asked one of his better students, "If you were to give someone an orange, how would you go about it?"

　　合同法教授问他的一个好学生：“如果你要给某人一个橘子，你要怎么说？”

　　The student replied, "Here's an orange."

　　那学生答：“给你个橘子。”

　　The professor was outraged¹. "No! No! Think like a lawyer!"

　　教授生气了。“不对！不对！要像个律师那样！”

　　The student then replied, "Okay. I'd tell him, I hereby give and convey to you all and singular, my estate and interests, rights, title, claim, and advantages of and inside orange, together with all its rind, juice, pulp², and seeds, and all rights and advantages with full power to bite, cut, freeze and otherwise eat, the same, or give the same way with and without the pulp, juice, rind and seeds, anything herein before or hereinafter or in any deed, or deeds, instruments of whatever nature or kind whatsoever³ to the contrary in anywise notwithstanding..."

　　重点讲解：

　　1. be to do sth.

　　表示按计划或安排要做的事；将要做的事情；

　　eg. Then he received a phone call that was to change his life.

　　然后，他接到一个将改变他一生的电话。

　　eg. A few hours later he was to prove it.

　　2. go about

　　着手干；做；处理；

　　eg. I want him back, but I just don't know how to go about it.

　　3. to the contrary

　　相反地；

　　eg. That does not automatically mean, however, that the money supply has been curbed⁴, and there is considerable evidence to the contrary.

1 outraged
