A new study published Wednesday finds that more kids are either thinking about or attempting suicide¹.

For the study, a database² of visits at 49 children's hospitals for kids aged³ 5 to 17 were analyzed⁴.

Researchers found that over the past decade "the rates doubled among children that were hospitalized for suicidal thoughts or activity."

Girls made up nearly two-thirds of the cases.
