Reuters reports the former employee, Xiaolang Zhang, allegedly downloaded a secret blueprint¹ related to a self-driving car to a personal laptop and later tried to flee the country.

According to a criminal complaint filed in federal court, Zhang disclosed intentions to work for a Chinese self-driving car startup and booked a last-minute flight to China after downloading the plan for a circuit board for the self-driving car.

联邦法院收到的刑事起诉书显示，Zhang透露了要去中国的一家自动驾驶汽车初创公司工作的打算，并在下载自动驾驶汽车的电路板计划资料后预定了一趟最快飞往中国的航班。

Authorities arrested Zhang on July 7 at the San Jose airport after he passed through a security checkpoint.
