上个世纪70年代在美国出现过一部风靡一时的电影《爱情故事》（Love Story），该影片获得了当年7项奥斯卡奖提名。影片讲述了一对大学生的生死恋情。男主人公家庭富足，有地位，女主人公家境贫穷，生活在社会底层，两人相爱自然遭到家庭阻挠。但是随着剧情的发展他们不仅捍卫了自己的爱情，男主角还在脱离家庭后，还自食其力完成了学业，做了律师。眼看马上就要苦尽甘来，女主人公却在这个时候身患绝症。为了爱妻，男主人公低头向家人求助，然而最终却没能挽回妻子的生命。
