In east China’s Anhui province, thousands of high school students are attending May 4 Youth Day ceremonies that mark the coming of their adulthood. Oaths of gratitude, dreams and responsibility are sworn.

The Youth Day seems also a good chance to swear oaths for 18-year-old youngsters -- as the age divides teenage and adulthood in China.

The 18-year-olds are also given “adulthood badges,” copies of Constitution and pass through “adulthood gate”—accompanied by their parents.

Over in north China’s Hebei province, parents dress their children with caps to mark their adulthood. Students also fly kites with their parents, aimed to build closer family bonds and show the students’ anticipation for a bright future.
