The Prime Minister Scott Morrison has joined US President Donald Trump¹ in opening a paper mill in Ohio, owned by Australian billionaire box maker² Anthony Pratt. Mr Pratt is a prominent Australian supporter of Donald Trump and the half-billion-dollar factory fulfils a promise he made to help US industry. Mr Trump and Mr Morrison say the mill represents the strong trade and investment links between the US and Australia.

Leading scientists are warning climate change is accelerating, and that the past five years are likely to be the hottest on record. The World Meteorological Organisation³ has drawn⁴ together the latest scientific reports ahead of the UN climate summit. And findings show greenhouse gases in the atmosphere have reached new highs, and ice sheets are melting faster than ever.
