In this week's podcast, the country's largest property developer China Vanke announces it will offer major discounts for customers of the popular online retailer¹ Taobao.

On the deepening of a housing downturn, China Vanke said it will slash² home prices by up to 2 million yuan for a one-month period.

The partnership³ with the e-commerce site Taobao will allow Taobao users to receive discounts on home purchases made in 12 cities from August 25 to the end of September.

Taobao customers are eligible⁴ for price cuts equal to the total cost of their online purchases.

An industry source told Caixin developers typically offer promotions⁵ during the peak season for home sales which lasts from September through October.

Vanke's midyear report showed that revenues for the first half of this year dropped for the first time since 2010, by just over one percent.
