"If my wife wears a really ugly-looking dress and she asks me how does she look, what should I say?"

That's easy. (laughing) Tell her the truth.

Tell her, "You're wearing an ugly-looking dress, and I don't like it. Change."

You should probably be honest to your wife. I mean, you kinda married her.

Well, I wouldn't recommend¹ that you say, "Why, that's super-ugly." I would say to her, "That's not the most flattering² thing I've seen you wear."

If it really looks really bad, just find something you like about it and just be supportive of her.

If you think it's ugly but maybe she thinks it looks good, try to think of it. Maybe that's just your taste, right? And you just have a different opinion.
