 Bored? There are a variety of things you can do to recreate and entertain yourself at Harvard. Harvard has a wide range of facilities for exercising, rowing, running tracks, skiing, skating and other sports. There are six key recreational centers where you can relax yourself: Blodgett Pool, Hemenway Gymnasium, Malkin Athletic¹ Center, Malkin Athletic Center Pool, Murr Center and Quadrangle Recreational Athletic Center. You only need to pay $145 a year, and you can use all the facilities provided by the Harvard University Department of Athletics².

If you want to recharge yourself, you can go to recreation classes. Most recreation classes are free of charge. Enrollment³ in classes is available to Harvard students. The classes (some with an additional fee) include ballroom⁴ dancing，tennis, scuba⁵ diving, yoga, strength straining, Tai Chi, squash, skating, and general exercise classes.

If you are good at sports, your ability won’t be buried. You can participate in intercollegiate games. If you fail to be admitted, don’t feel sad. Harvard has developed an extensive program of intramural sports since the number of students who can compete at the intercollegiate level is limited. Harvard values athletics very much. In the first year，freshmen⁶ can only participate in freshmen intramural athletics, which is somewhat informal. In the following three years, however, as students move into Houses, they can participate in the House Intramural Athletics program. As representatives of their own Houses, students compete with players from other Houses.

Are you still not satisfied? You are hungry after doing sports, right? Go to Harvard Square. It provides you anything you can think of. Which cuisine⁷ do you prefer? American, Irish, Italian, Mediterranean⁸, French, Mexican, Asian, or Indian? You won't feel disappointed at the Square. After dinner, you can take a walk around the square. In additional to an exciting and colorful street scene，Harvard Square boasts over 40 cultural organizations, from comedy and nightclubs to galleries and museums. There are shops of various kind, selling such things as antiques, crafts, books, clothing, jewelry⁹, and many other kinds.
