As a new mode of family, DINK is revolutionary (革命性的). It overthrows¹ not only the recognized Chinese traditional concept of standard families-having a wife and children, but also the traditional view of raising children to support parents in later life and continuing the family line.

Sociologists believe that the popularity of DINK shows that Chinese nowadays have more choices. DINKs pay more attention to their present individual happiness. They cherish the relationship between husband and wife while they make light of parenthood. They obviously have a modern way of thinking to attach importance to themselves.
