Dialogue 1 A：Hi Tom,are you busy?can you spare a minute to help me with something?

B:No,i'm not busy.i have a little time right now.What can i do for you?

A:I am meeting this afternoon to start negotiations¹ for our merger² project.I was hoping you would help me go through a few things ahead of time.

B:What?you mean brainstorming³?

A:No,i was hoping you'd help me run through things,i am a little nervous,and i'm afraid i might forget something important.You just be Mr Partner,i'll try running over my opening points with you, ok?

B:Sure,go ahead.

A:OK,well, Mr Partner here's our report for our merger project,as you can see from the charge,we are looking for unequal distributions of workers from our office and your office.

Dialogue 2 A:I am stupid,i can't believe i didn't stand up to the claim of the team for local made about the rate of interest for our merger project.I totally forgot about the report you found from independent tax council.If i'd only remember to bring it up that time,things would gone so much better yesterday.

B:Don't be so hard on yourself.with all the date you are managing on this project,it's not too surprising that you forgot some of details.You are not a computer ,you know.No one expects you'd have perfect recall at all times.

A:I know,it just bothers me.

B:You've got to look at things long term,even though we lost on that point,we were still able to hamer out of deal that works for both of us.if it wasn't favorable to us,we wouldn't have agreed on the project.we are just talking about one a little concession⁴ here.

A:Yeah,i guess you're right,in the long run,i guess it doesn't impact too much.

B:That's right,after all.even though you might have the brain for ease on that one issue,we still ended up with agreement that beat our ? by a long shot.We should be congratulating ourselves.
