In the course of this conflict between militants¹ in Gaza and the Israeli defence forces, the international chorus of criticism has been getting ever louder at the fast rising number of civilian² Palestinians killed and injured. The US government has not been among those speaking out most loudly. But then on Wednesday, at least 15 people were killed at a UN-run school in Gaza, being used as a refuge. And it seems the tone in Washington changed.
