北京优质教育资源将再扩大 6城区将增25所优质校

 　　More high-quality schools will be built in Beijing to ensure that more children have access to a high standard of education.

　　According to a statement by the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, at least three mediocre¹ or low-quality schools in each of the six densely² populated districts - Xicheng, Dongcheng, Haidian, Chaoyang, Shijingshan and Fengtai - will be merged³ with high-quality counterparts.

　　根据北京市教育委员会发布的一份声明，西城、东城、海淀、朝阳、石景山、丰台这6个人口稠密城区至少各有3所普通校或薄弱校将与优质校合并。

　　Within two or three years, 25 new high-quality schools will be established and the weakest schools in each district will be merged with strong ones or become part of a high-quality school alliance, the commission said.

　　It also said schools in the six districts would start to aid the development of at least 15 low-quality schools in Beijing's outskirts⁴ or suburban⁵ areas.

　　Meanwhile, primary and junior middle schools are not allowed to cooperate with real estate companies to run branches, the commission stated.

　　Schools are also banned from having campuses outside the capital without permits from the commission. However, programs that are in line with the coordinated⁶ development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei province are an exception.
