The Reserve Bank has left official interest rates on hold at 1 point 5 per cent at its most highly anticipated board meeting for almost three years. The decision caused the Australian Dollar to rise from around 70 to 70 point 4 US cents and the local share market to lose most of its earlier gains. The official cash rate target has now been on hold for 30 consecutive¹ meetings.

A protester has attempted to egg Scott Morrison while the Prime Minister was campaigning at Albury in regional New South Wales. The egg didn't break, and security quickly removed a young woman who was attending the CWA event. Mr Morrison returned to help a bystander knocked over in the commotion².

One million of the earth's species are under threat of extinction³ in an accelerating crisis. A UN review of the state of nature, has found there will likely be grave impacts on humanity from unprecedented⁴ declines in biodiversity. The report was based on systematic⁵ reviews of 15 thousand scientific and government sources.
