Centre Alliance's Rex Patrick claims the aim was to muzzle² his criticism of the nation's powerful security department. Senator Patrick spoke³ out about last week's police raids on the ABC and on the home of a Canberra journalist. A pilot has died after his helicopter crashed on top of a skyscraper⁴ in the heart of New York City. Emergency officials say the chopper made an emergency crash-landing on the roof of a building in midtown Manhattan. The pilot was the only person onboard. And New York police have now closed off a large area around the scene — including Times Square.

All inbound lanes and two of the outbound lanes are now closed.
