A high-ranking US security advisor¹ has directly contradicted the president's claims Ukraine was trying to help the Democrats² during the 2016 election. Russia expert Fiona Hill has warned that Ukraine meddling³ is a false narrative⁴ peddled⁵ by Russia. She says Russia is also trying to interfere⁶ in the 2020 presidential race.

And fire crews are this morning continuing to assess the damage caused by a massive bushfire on South Australia's Lower Yorke Peninsula. The blaze, at Yorketown, tore through more than five-thousand hectares taking out at least 11 properties. The fire is believed to have been caused by a fault in electricity network equipment. Dozens of fires are still burning across most states and territories, but heatwave conditions are easing today.
