Millions of Americans filed for unemployment benefits for a seventeenth consecutive¹ week, as layoffs² in states like Georgia, Florida and California continue on the rise along with spikes³ in coronavirus cases. According to the U.S. Labor⁴ Department's numbers Thursday, 1.3 million workers sought jobless benefits last week for a total of 17.3 million nationwide since the pandemic began.
