Biography of Lincoln
Lincoln was one of the greatest statesmen in the USA. He was a shrewd and ambitious man. His integrity, intellect and courtesy gained him the esteem1 of his people. His career reflected the common American's dream or belief. Due to his remarkable2 competence3 and merits, Lincoln was nominated for the Presidency4 and was elected the president in 1860.
In Lincoln's time, even though the south and the north of America were colonies without autonomy, and they had different splitting regimes. The property of the south was based on the tragic5 fate of black slaves: Africans and their descendants(offspring) were sold as commodities. The moment when those slaves were tugged6 into the foul7 cabin, they were dropped into a hopeless plight8. Deducting9 the dead and the insane, only half of the robust(muscular) slaves were alive. When slave ships traversed the Atlantics, sharks followed them for preying10 on slaves' corpses11.
Most of the northerners despised and opposed slavery. In 1952, the publication of Uncle Tom's Cabin, which graphically12 depicted13 the brutal14 slavery and tragic destiny of slaves, was sold by millions. The calling for overturning slavery swelled15 to a deafening16 chorus.
Lincoln didn't take any rash action to abolish or crash slavery. The Civil War of America broke out in 1861. At first, though possessing ample ammunition17, artillery18 (cannon) and food supply, the alliance of the north still couldn't repel19 the enemy's siege. With other underlying20 superiority, the north won the final victory and the south power ebbed21.
After pondering long enough, Lincoln proclaimed the notable Emancipation22 Proclamation in 1862. He also mobilized the slaves who had busted23 their yoke24 to join the federal troop. Most of the enthusiastic people upheld Lincoln's political slogan. In 1864, his singular feat25 made him was voted president for a second term by a unanimous ballot26 (poll) after the expiration27.
After the President's inauguration28, Lincoln feasted a galaxy29 of generals in front of the White House. But in a few days, he was assassinated30 in a theater. The irritated people captured the assassin in an obscure village just several days later.
