In October 1971, the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted Resolution 2758 at its 26th Session.

1971年10月，第26届联合国大会通过第2758号决议。

The resolution was to restore all lawful¹ rights to the People's Republic of China (PRC) in the UN.

决定恢复中华人民共和国在联合国的一切合法权利。

In fact, since the PRC was founded in 1949, the country had expressed its wish to be granted UN representation.

事实上，中华人民共和国1949年成立以后，曾被挡在联合国大门之外长达22年。

After 22 years' continuous efforts, the PRC was recognized as the only lawful representative of China to the UN.

经过22年的不懈斗争，联合国大会决议明确承认中华人民共和国政府的代表是中国在联合国的唯一合法代表。

It was a victory for the diplomacy² of the PRC, a victory for justice and fairness in the world, and a victory for the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, noted³ Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

China also joined UN agencies and participated in UN affairs through international cooperation.

And as one of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council, it has been able to fulfill⁴ its responsibilities as a major country in international diplomacy.

国家主席习近平9月21日出席第七十六届联合国大会一般性辩论并发表重要讲话表示，今年是中华人民共和国恢复在联合国合法席位50周年，中国将隆重纪念这一历史性事件。

"We will continue our active efforts to take China's cooperation with the United Nations to a new level and make new and greater contributions to advancing the noble cause of the UN."

习近平指出，中国将继续积极推动中国同联合国合作迈向新台阶，为联合国崇高事业不断作出新的更大贡献。
