The Soviet² Union’s bloody³ contribution to the defeat of Nazi⁴ Germany. To mark the 70th anniversary of the German surrender this weekend, I’ve been speaking to historian Professor Geoffrey Roberts at the University College Cork⁵ who recently published his biography of the military genius of that battle Marshall Zukoff. First, I asked professor why the battle was so important.
