Malaysia has declared the disappearance³ of Flight MH370 an accident. Now that move clears the way for the airline to compensate⁴ victim relatives while the search for the plane continues. An interim⁵ report on the flight disappearance will be released in March one year after the plane went missing.

 

The grandmother of convicted Bali Nine drug smuggler⁶ Myuran Sukumaran has pleaded for the Indonesian government to spare his life. She was joined by hundreds of people at a candle-lit vigil in Sydney last night. 

 

An inquest to the Sydney’s siege has heard details about the final moments of hostages Tori Johnson and Katrina Dawson. The inquest was told that gunman Man Haron Monis made Lint⁷ Café manager Tori Johnson nil⁸ before shooting him in the head. Police heard the shots and rushed in. Fragments of police bullets then killed Barrister Katrina Dawson.
