The Reserve Bank has slashed¹ it's inflation forecasts for the next six months, but sees better economic conditions ahead.

The bank pointed² to a range of improving indicators³ from employment to vacancies⁴, business surveys and trade data.

Rates have been at 2 percent since the last easing in May.

Underlying⁵ inflation was now seen around 2 percent for most of next year, down from 2.5 percent previously⁶.

However, it highlighted China, and Asia in general, as a key source of uncertainty⁷ with growth in the region now likely to be slower than first thought.

The Australian share market is being led lower by energy and mining stocks.
