The Prime Minister accuses the Opposition¹ of abandoning small business owners; Federal MP Clive Palmer confirms he won't recontest his seat of Fairfax; Ted² Cruz drops out of the Republican race to the White House.

Question time has been dominated by the budget, with the prime minister accusing the opposition of abandoning small business owners.

The government wants to expand the definition of small business so tax cuts are available to companies with up to ten million dollars in annual turnover³.

The opposition won't support the new threshold and Malcolm Turnbull says that's a disgrace.

Clive Palmer has left open the option of running for the senate...having ruled out recontesting his sunshine coast seat of Fairfax.

The federal MP says his party has made a difference in Australian politics and will focus on the upper house.

Mr Palmer says he'll talk to his wife before deciding whether to join the Queensland senate ticket.

The path has cleared for Donald Trump⁴ to seize the U.S. republican presidential nomination⁵... after his rival, Ted Cruz, suspended his white house campaign.

Mr Cruz made the announcement after losing the Indiana primary.

Mr Trump, meanwhile, wasted no time turning his attention to his democrat⁶ rivals... saying Hilary Clinton would be a poor president.
