The Australian Medical Association has dealt a blow to Labor's claim that the government wants to privatise medicare. The new head of the AMA, Michael Gannon, has rejected opposition¹ leader Bill Shorten's allegation that outsourcing medicare's payments system amounts to a general move to privatisation.

A two month old baby and his 16 year old mother have died after a car was involved in a crash with a truck in Tasmania's north west. Paramedics treated the occupants of the car at the scene but were not able to save the baby boy. An 18-year-old man is in a serious but stable condition

The major players in the Brexit debate have made a last ditch appeal to voters ahead of the referendum on the UK leaving the European Union.
