The prime minister has hit back at Tony Abbott's criticism of the Royal Commission into the Northern Territory Youth Justice System, saying it's an appropriate response to the issue. The former prime minister has accused the government of panicking over the four corners report detailing abuse at the Don Dale youth detention¹ centre. Mr Abbott compared the issue to the suspension of live cattle exports.

North Korea says it has successfully carried out its fifth nuclear test. Suspicions were first raised when a huge seismic² event was detected near the country's nuclear test site.
