Fire crews are battling to deal with two huge bushfires about to join together to form a mega-blaze near the Victorian-New South Wales border. The Dunn's road fire, which tore through the towns of Batlow, Adelong and Tumbarumba is burning dangerously close to the Corryong fire, which has devastated¹ towns in Victoria's north east. Light rain and smoke haze² in the area has prevented authorities making an accurate assessment³ of the fire perimeter⁴ which made things even tougher. Late yesterday, police in New South Wales confirmed another person has died in bushfires on the state's south coast.
