Forty-one new coronavirus infections have been confirmed on board the Diamond Princess cruise ship docked at Yokohama. It brings the total number of confirmed cases on the ship to 61. It comes as authorities in China report 73 new deaths across the country from the virus. The total number of people known to have died from the respiratory disease now stands at 636.

Heavy rain is drenching¹ large parts of the east coast, causing widespread flooding. The heaviest falls have been recorded in New South Wales, the centers including Byron Bay, Grafton and Coffs Harbour received almost 300 millimetres in 24 hours. Major roads in Sydney, the Blue Mountains and the Illawarra have been cut off. Southern parts of Queensland have also recorded 100 millimetres in a day.

An Adelaide chiropractor, who used hidden cameras to indecently film hundreds of female clients, including children, has been sentenced to more than 10 years jail. 52-year-old Peter Wayne Snodgrass pleaded guilty to more than 200 charges including indecent filming and production of child exploitation material. His victims were aged² between 11 and 60 years old.
