There's been a security scare for Donald Trump¹ in Nevada. Secret service agents rushed the Republican nominee² off stage midway through his speech. Details are still coming in about the nature of the incident, but Mr Trump went back on stage a few minutes later, telling the audience the campaign was never going to be easy.

An emergency warning has been issued for a large bushfire at Port Stephens on the New South Wales mid-north coast. The RFS says conditions have deteriorated³ and the fire is closing in on the township of Karuah. Water-bombing aircraft have now joined fire crews in the area and the Pacific Highway has been closed.

President widodo postponed⁴ a planned visit to Australia after the protests turned violent. He criticised politicians, whom he did not name, for inciting⁵ die-hard protesters after most had already gone home.
